Autumn Wedding at The Ruth

When we say, "everything came together beautifully” at this wedding, we mean it. Even the bride and groom were amazed that the colors and elements they’d chosen for their wedding seemed to be tailor-made for the space itself. The Ruth is a newer venue in Charlotte, NC that gives off the coolest vibes. Add warm late summer and early fall tones in every glorious detail, and it seems that this wedding even brought out the beauty of The Ruth itself. It was a gorgeous day.

Engagement

Sarah and Corey’s romantic story is seriously sweet and, dare I say, swoon-worthy? Sarah’s friends set up an account for her on a dating app, and when Corey’s responses met with their approval, a “blind date” was scheduled. That first date lasted 6 (count ‘em SIX) hours, at which point Sarah’s pals decided they could bow out and leave the two alone.

During COVID, Sarah’s widowed father became sick and Corey was not only a great boyfriend to Sarah, his love and care for her father felt like heroism on another scale. She shared that if she hadn’t already known he was the one, these characteristics sealed the deal.

As their photographer, the engagement portraits gave me an opportunity to watch how they interact, and they are so happy, and so goofy with each other. They laugh a LOT.

Wedding Day Preparations

This auburn haired beauty got ready at The Ruth with her loved ones and Corey did the same. The spaces for this are ample and perfect for preparation, champagne, and sweet exchanges.

A First Look

The bar area at The Ruth was the perfect spot for for these two to share a first look. If you haven’t visited this venue, the tile work alone is worth a stop by. I loved capturing both of their faces when Corey turned around.

Sarah’s bridesmaids, officiant, and friends were treated to their own first look as well.

The Outdoor Ceremony

Not long after they announced their engagement, Sarah’s Dad passed away, but he was very much present and incorporated into the wedding details. This couple knew they wanted to get married in Charlotte and once they toured The Ruth, they stopped searching. They asked their wedding planner to help them create an event that had “no baby’s breath and a wonderful guest experience.” The team at Quill Creative delivered.

The Details & Party

The reception hall is already a spacious and inviting room, but once the palette of dusty pinks, corals, terracotta, copper, and white were added, it felt both cozy and incredibly elegant.

Congratulations

The evening ended with a last private dance for Sarah and Corey and a sparkler send off. It was the magic they deserved and I loved being able to capture their beautiful day. Congratulation, you two!
