The Terrace at Cedar Hill Wedding

Emily and Nathan Farber became husband and wife on September 5th of this year, and I was their happy photographer of both engagement portraits and the wedding itself! Capturing them during their engagement gave me a bit of an opportunity to get to know them and they were such a sweet couple, both excited and hopeful.

The Couple

These two met their freshman year at Ohio University, when they landed in the same dorm and same friend group. Both were shy, so it took until their sophomore year before they began dating in earnest. By graduation, Emily said she couldn’t imagine spending her life with anyone else. "He was my best friend and I felt so comfortable with him and I could be my true self around him. He also pushes me out of my comfort zone, which I am grateful for, because I like to live my life well within my comfort zone. But without him I would have passed up so many cool experiences.”

They relocated to Charlotte, NC and during their engagement, Emily visited The Terrace at Cedar Hill for a company party. She fell in love with the exquisite views of Charlotte, NC and the details of the space. This venue is a minimalist canvas that can be kept more modern and understated, decorated for a classic or traditional wedding, or showcase a themed event of your unique vision. Emily and Nathan kept it classic, and the proof is in the photos!

The Preparation

The groom and groomsmen got ready at the Marriott in downtown Charlotte while the ladies prepared at a private residence. The pale pink, cream, champagne, and white palette set the stage. Once surrounded by greenery, everyone looked print advertising ready!

A First Look

The couple took time for a First Look and I loved capturing their delighted anticipation. Emily’s dress was perfection with her in it, and she even commented that she adored the images I took of her during the day. “I absolutely loved my wedding dress! I got so many compliments on how classic and elegant it is. Even though it was a pretty simple dress (no beading, lace or crystals) I think that Christian was able to capture the beauty of the dress in a lot of our photos.” These moments with couples, when they make time alone before saying “I do,” are priceless.

The Ceremony

The Party People

Emily and Nathan were surrounded by so much love on their day and you can see it not only in their smiles, but on the faces of their wedding party, family and guests. This couple has ties to Ohio and many of their nearest and dearest attended Ohio University in Athens. One special moment that Emily shared was that her father-in-law made sure everyone had a “hot nut” shot while he was giving his toast. For the uninitiated, these are a shot of hazelnut liqueur and coffee and they are a big thing in Athens. Everyone loved it!

Congratulations to Emily and Nathan! I wish you both so much joy and continued happiness for many decades to come.
